Role Snapshot…
The primary effort of the Project Controls Specialist (PCS) is to work with our clients and staff to develop, monitor, and update integrated project schedules in order to help our clients’ projects finish on time and on budget. The PCS will handle multiple projects and work independently.  The PCS will be able to execute assigned work within budgets.

Responsibilities & Competencies…
  • Intermediate to advanced level user of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.  Must work towards improving competencies using these scheduling softwares and other PC/Forensic Software Tools and possess a strong knowledge of databases, software configurations, and maintenance needs.
  • Will be solving long-term problems through root cause or comparative analysis.
  • Use beginner to intermediate level knowledge and decision-making skills to quickly assess project status and serve as an external reviewer of projects. 
  • Responsible for training team members in necessary project controls and scheduling software, project management principles, innovative techniques, and process best practices. 
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for growing work with existing clients and identifying and verbalizing other business development opportunities for consideration to management. 
  • Will assist in identifying and accurately scoping and estimating (hours/cost) for new work opportunities that are typical of existing opportunities. 
  • PCS will be providing expertise and be innovative regarding methodologies, technologies, and techniques that can be implemented into our internal processes and offered as solutions and clearly communicated to clients as to the overall value to their projects/programs.
  • Beginner to intermediate level knowledge with some experience performing data gathering in support of Forensic Analysis.
  • Experience building Work Breakdown Structures, Baseline Schedules, and/or Cost Estimates on projects in excess of $1M from contract documents, drawings and specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Superintendents to collect status and accurately maintain schedules.
  • Able to produce project status reports including schedule progress and quantity/cost tracking.
  • Responsible for developing skills and experience to fulfill the requirements of growth into a “Sr. Project Controls Specialist” while functioning in a consulting environment. 
  • Provide “thought leadership” regarding emerging strategic opportunities, as well as with regard to operational issues and challenges by:
    • Participating and where appropriate, present at conferences, seminars, workshops, and internal lunch and learns;
    • Writing white papers for publications;
    • Having a significant social media presence for industry ideas and collaboration (i.e. LinkedIn, and Twitter);
    • Be affiliated with at least one (1) Professional organization and serve in a leadership role on a board or council, if possible. 
  • 5-10 years of experience.
  • Degree highly preferred in Engineering, Construction, or other technical related field
  • PMP Preferred, needs to work towards obtaining.
  • Intermediate to Advanced P6 user.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level competency in either schedule or cost control.
  • Intermediate to Advanced level understanding of Project Controls, Scheduling, and EVM principles required.
  • Intermediate level understanding of Project Management.
  • Have a high emotional intelligence. Exceptional communication, teamwork and influencing skills that foster a collaborative and continuous-improvement environment.
