Role Snapshot…
The primary effort of the Process Improvement Specialist is to assist in managing assigned health management services which can include: population health management, practice facilitation, medical/utilization management, case/disease/maternity management and/or quality improvement activities. The position will be responsible for monitoring compliance in accordance with client and contract deliverables as well as service/accreditation requirements as applicable.   In addition, the specialist will participate in creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance.
 
Responsibilities & Competencies…
  • Work with the Process Improvement Manager in communications between MSLLC and the client.  Responsible for client relationship management and ensuring that all contract deliverables are met.
  • Manage a small team of employees.  Perform contract tasks such as conduct assessments, chart audits and develop client reports.
  • Participate in the day to day operations of multiple and diverse health management lines of service and/or contracts/programs. Provide technical assistance, including issue research and resolution. 
  • Work with the Process Improvement Manager to develop and implement process improvement methodologies for an organization whose philosophy is continuous improvement. Depending on the scope of assigned area, may participate in facilitating national programs/projects. Ensure operations are completed in a timely, satisfactory, and compliant manner within assigned funding/budget.
  • Select, develop, and manage employees to achieve individual, team, and organizational success. Ensure employee accountability through routine observation, performance measurement, and performance feedback.
  • Utilize performance improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to achieve sustained process and outcomes improvements. Apply appropriate Continuous Quality Improvement tools.
  • Work with the Process Improvement Manager to create and implement change management strategies and coach teams in change concepts and measuring strategies leading to achievement in improving identified outcomes.
  • Work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization and greater proficiency of the changes that impact employees in the organization to increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes that impact employees in the client organization.

  • Provide resources and support as needed to meet the departmental and Company goals and specific contract/program requirements.
  • Represent the company and present at meetings and/or conferences. Work externally with providers or clients as assigned. Make recommendations for improvements and/or efficiencies to management.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications…
  • 2-5 years of experience managing/supporting utilization management (UM) projects to include access screening and determination, benefit/service utilization management, requirements management, Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) waiver management, process/program improvement ideation, and data analytics. 
  • BA or BS degree in one of the health sciences required LEAN/Six Sigma Green or Yellow belt certification required.
  • Experience with primary care practices, Medicare, and Medicaid is preferred
  • Have a high emotional intelligence. Exceptional communication, teamwork and influencing skills that foster a collaborative and continuous-improvement environment.
